Tobacco & Cancer Program
WHAT WE DO
• Provide education about cancer prevention programs, services, and cancer risk factors
• Promote early detection of cancer at intervals recommended by national screening guidelines
• Refer eligible people to the Wyoming Cancer Program (WCP) for screening options
• Assist people needing information, resources, and support and advocacy
• Provide patient navigation to anyone needing local, regional, state, or national cancer information and resources
• Develop partnerships with health systems to implement evidence-based interventions to increase cancer screening rates
WHY CANCER SCREENINGS ARE IMPORTANT
Every year, more than 650 Wyoming residents are diagnosed with breast, cervical, and colorectal cancers alone. Most of these cancers do not have symptoms in early stages, so knowing the risk factors and getting recommended screenings can help find cancer early.
Talk to your healthcare provider about your risk for cancer!
